After presenting his 'off camera flash workshop' in 2011, Leo realised that MFFC was his photographic happy place and joined as a member. He quickly became the popular 'go to technical expert' in the club. His extensive knowledge of different cameras, lenses, trusty tripods and Lightroom was exceptional. He served as MFFC Chairman for three years, and was awarded Honorary membership in 2020. His versatile photographic skills earned him his LPSSA honours with Photographic Society of SA.
Leo will be remembered for his willingness to assist with sourcing 'the correct' equipment and going the extra mile to help fellow members. In emergencies you could count on him to come to the rescue with a plan. He would enthusiastically lend out just the right tripod, flash or gadget from his vast collection. His knowledge and attention to detail concerning rechargeable batteries, hard drives and flashes kept many members out of trouble!
Leo was adamant about keeping the camera strap around your neck, or wrist, making backups and structuring a good workflow, for which he will be fondly remembered, specially by new members who will always be grateful for his valuable training.
Your seat is empty and your voice is quiet, but you will be remembered with a warm smile from all at MFFC.
'Mooi Loop' Leo, your presence at MFFC will be sorely missed.
